Super Stop & Shop, located in Groton, Conn., is one of more than 350 Stop & Shop retail grocery stores in New England, New York and New Jersey. The modern Super Stop & Shop averages 65,000 square feet and combines specialty food shops with a broad selection of general merchandise. Along with the traditional food offerings, the store offers many departments and services, such as Foods-To-Go, pharmacy, floral, branch banking, bakery, deli, photo processing, salad bar, bookstore and small appliances. The Stop & Shop concept was founded in 1914 and has corporate headquarters in Quincy, Mass. Stop & Shop is a member of the Ahold USA group, owned by Royal Ahold of the Netherlands. Ahold USA owns five other prominent supermarket companies along the Eastern Seaboard.
