Descriptions Elmer s Restaurants traces its history back to 1960 when Walter and Dorothy Elmer opened an establishment in Portland, Ore., under the name Elmer's Colonial Pancake & Steak House. Since then, the restaurant has grown to a chain that operates and franchises restaurants in California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Its restaurants serve a variety of appetizers, salads and signature soups. Known for its pancakes, the chain s menu also includes smoked bacon, chicken, steaks, ribs, pasta and combination platters. Elmer s Restaurants conducts fundraising activities and raises money for several nonprofit organizations.
