Athens Probation Office

Probation Supervision is a state government-operated unit that provides substance abuse treatment, assessment, educational and counseling services. Located in Athens, Ga., the unit offers supervision services for more than 35,000 offenders. Probation Supervision is a part of the corrections unit of the Georgia Department of Corrections. In addition, the Georgia Department of Corrections operates various state prisons and transitional and diversion centers. The department promotes public safety, as well as monitors adult and juvenile felons. The Georgia Department of Corrections operates through operations, training and administration divisions. The department additionally operates several fire stations that assign inmates to its firefighter programs.
